Trainees in the U-M Medical School Department of Pediatrics Residency program are active in a number of groups and committees.
The goal of the groups is not only improve clinical care and multidisciplinary endeavors but also enrich the lives of residents and the lives of others.

House Officer Quality & Safety Committee
The House Officer Quality & Safety Committee (HOQSC) is a multidisciplinary, resident-led committee focused on improving clinical care across the health system which has over 1,200 house officers working alongside faculty, nurses and students to provide patient care. Understanding that house officers deliver a large portion of the direct clinical care to our patients, this committee was developed to more fully leverage the unique front-line experiences of our residents. Participation in this committee engages our residents in patient safety and quality improvement efforts across University of Michigan Health.
Michigan Pediatrics Advocacy Collaborative Team
Michigan Pediatrics Advocacy Collaborative Team, is a resident-led initiative focused on addressing health disparities, lobbying for pediatric public policy issues, and advocating for children throughout the state of Michigan. The mission of MPACT is to educate residents on the needs of our patient population, advocate for all of our “little victors” in the political arena, and promote local advocacy and volunteer opportunities.
Residency Advisory Warriorz
The Residency Advisory Warriorz (RAWRZ) are an elected group of residents who make meaningful change within the program by partnering with leadership and residents to find solutions for issues or ideas for change based on resident feedback.
Residents & Fellows for Global Health Equity
At the U-M Medical School Pediatric Residency program, we believe global health opportunities, both local and abroad, and addressing health disparities contributes to the development of socially-conscious and well-rounded pediatricians. Residents have multiple opportunities for exposure to global health and health disparities.
In addition to the opportunity to choose Global Health and Health Disparities as an area of concentration, residents also can participate in the GME Global Health and Health Disparities Group. This group supports and facilitates the development of global health and health disparities education, research and clinical opportunities for all residents at U-M Medical School.
Medical Student Education Interest Group
A group of residents with a particular interest in medical education to improve the experience of medical students throughout their pediatric clerkship. The mission is to improve residents’ ability to effectively and efficiently teach medical student through the creation of chalk talks available in every resident team room
Book Club
The Resident Book Club offers the opportunity to meet up with other residents outside of work at local coffee shops, restaurants, and resident homes to discuss current best sellers.
