Division of Pediatric Cardiology
Exceptional care for congenital and acquired heart conditions.
The goal of the U-M Medical School Department of Pediatrics Division of Pediatric Cardiology is to provide the best possible care for infants, children and adults with all forms of congenital and acquired heart disease.
We achieve this goal through the expertise of our internationally known faculty combined with the facilities and resources of University of Michigan Health. We strive to deliver highly competent, skilled and knowledgeable health care services guided by respect for our patients and families.
Nationally Ranked in Pediatric Cardiology & Heart Surgery
C.S. Mott Children's Hospital has been recognized as one of the nation's best in pediatric cardiology and heart surgery by U.S. News & World Report for 2025-2026.
Clinical Care
Our division provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of infants, children, adolescents and adults with congenital and acquired heart diseases at the Congenital Heart Center - a world-renowned, state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facility within C.S. Mott Children's Hospital and the Frankel Cardiovascular Center.
Care is provided by a team of highly specialized cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, nurses, cardiac anesthesiologists, mental health providers and allied health professionals (social workers, pharmacists, dieticians, occupational therapists, physical therapists, etc.). In addition to providing care at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, the Frankel Cardiovascular Center and several U-M ambulatory care sites, we also provide services at several non-U-M facilities throughout Michigan.

Education
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at U-M Medical School is a internationally recognized and ACGME-accredited training center for physicians who care for children with cardiovascular disease.
In addition to teaching nurses, medical students and residents, the Division directs a Fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology that provides outstanding educational opportunities for the development of academic pediatric cardiologists who will be future leaders in the field. In preparation for a career in pediatric cardiovascular medicine and biology, our expert faculty teach and mentor fellows in clinical care, teaching and research within Michigan Medicine.
Research
The division is committed to research and innovation to enhance care quality and outcomes for children and adults with heart disease, encompassing basic science, translational, health services and clinical research.
Our faculty's research is supported by the NIH, various foundations, industry funding, philanthropic contributions, and the University of Michigan. As a core site for the Pediatric Heart Network, our division is integral to advancing cardiac research. Our faculty's research is funded by the National Institutes of Health, the U-M Cardiovascular Center, industry grants, C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, and private donations.
