Leaders in Pediatrics
We offer outstanding and balanced training that prepares our graduates to assume leadership positions in pediatrics.
Unique Training Experience
Our faculty in the Department of Pediatrics is comprised of world leaders in the care of children as well as in pediatric education, pediatric health services and research. We train our graduates to become leaders by ensuring that their residency experience includes training in teaching, advocacy, health services, evidence-based medicine, cultural competence and ethics. Opportunities are available for those who wish a more thorough grounding in research, and a new advocacy elective gives interested residents hands-on and in-depth experience with policy development and the legislative process. After graduation, our residents are successful in all career paths.
The U-M Medical School Department of Pediatrics Residency Program provides a fantastic opportunity for training in both inpatient and ambulatory pediatrics. Residents rotate at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, a 1.1 million square foot, 12 story, 348-bed facility that opened in 2011, as well as multiple satellite clinics located throughout the community. In addition to direct patient care and clinical exposure, resident education is multifaceted through clinical rotation, conference curriculum, procedural experience, and research opportunities.
Message from the Department Chair
The Department of Pediatrics offers the acuity, volume, and complexity of a large referral center within a supportive, individualized educational environment for our residents. This balance creates a training experience that ensures that our residents are prepared to become leaders in pediatric medicine.
Our faculty are eager to teach, mentor, and participate in robust research programs with our residents. Every sub-specialty within pediatrics is represented in C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and our faculty are committed to helping each resident discover and successfully prepare for their long-term career goals.
We are proud of the way our current residents have adapted to challenges and prioritized exemplary patient care and innovative methods of virtual education. They have shown resilience in personal and professional settings that has benefitted the children and families we serve.
If you have any questions about our program, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are proud of the training we provide and would love to learn more about you and your interests!
