Participants are placed into clinical rotations aligned with their interests and are paired with faculty mentors who provide guidance on navigating academic medicine and supporting patients across life experiences and needs. The program fosters cultural awareness, clinical confidence and insight into how systems of care can adapt to better serve all patients.

Students selected for the clerkship receive support for travel, housing and local expenses. The experience is designed to strengthen the pipeline into academic medicine and support students in building a purposeful and patient-focused career.

Interested students must submit both the AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) application to a Michigan Medicine clinical department and the HEVC application. For information regarding the HEVC, please feel free to contact Health Advancement at [email protected].
