How Will You Make Your Mark?
Interesting people create boundless options for everyone.
One of the hallmarks of the Michigan Medical School experience is that you can pursue any number of passions while you are here, and your voice will be valued by your peers, faculty, staff and leadership.
Michigan Medical School Ambassadors have many opportunities to be involved in the UMMS admissions process and are essential to making our interview experience a success. Admissions Ambassadors actively engage with prospective students, UMMS applicants/interviewees and admitted students to share their Michigan Medical School experience throughout the year.
There are leadership opportunities available such as the Lead Ambassador, who partners with the Office of Admissions to head up the entire Ambassador program; the Interview Day Coordinators and Interview Day Ambassadors who plan and organize the Get to Know Blue Michigan Monday Night Lives for interviewees; Student Recruitment Coordinators who connect admitted students with the UMMS community; and finally, medical students may serve on the Second Look at Michigan (SL@M) committee and welcome admitted students to campus and show them what life is like as a medical student here at Michigan.
Building health care teams of the future starts with interprofessional education now. As a medical student, you will learn alongside students from the other seven University of Michigan health professional schools in a variety of encounters:
Part of the Student Council leadership, M-Home representatives are selected for a four-year term where they serve as a voice for their medical student class. Students work with other representatives, faculty and deans to increase the impact on medical students' sense of community, belonging, well-being and professional development.
Responsibilities include:
Planning and implementing new programming and events
Evaluating grant applications impacting M-Home
Assisting in the coordination of M-Home Olympics and other events
The University of Michigan Medical School Student Council comprises several leadership positions across all four years, all of which serve to represent the student voice to medical school faculty and administration. Positions include: Class Advocates, Curriculum Representatives, Tech Representatives, Wellness & Mental Health Representatives and Honor Council.
You do not have to give up what you love when you come to Michigan. Our campus hosts 100+ medical student groups, many of them founded by students.
Ranging from socially and academically focused, to service and identity oriented, these groups round out the medical student experience. You can choose to participate in as many as you would like!
