The Post-baccalaureate Premedical Program at the University of Michigan Medical School (Postbac MEDPREP) is an 8 to 14-month program designed to enable someone without a science background to prepare for medical school and a career as a physician.

Postbac MEDPREP includes science-intensive coursework, health care experiential learning opportunities, training and preparation for the MCAT exam, and comprehensive support throughout the medical school application process—all with the resources of the University of Michigan’s highly regarded Medical School at your disposal. In addition, students have access to the entire University of Michigan academic community, which is currently ranked as the No. 1 pre-medical college in the U.S.

Our program is designed for those who want to take a new path in their professional life; however, if you are seeking to enhance or improve an existing academic record for a more competitive medical school application we encourage you to consider the Master’s Program in Physiology and/or the Master's Program in Biochemistry (coursework track).

With a small cohort of students admitted to Postbac MEDPREP every year, we are able to provide individualized attention and support to every person in the program. Postbac MEDPREP’s accelerated pace and intensive content are balanced with resources and guidance to ensure your success along the way, including:

• Upper-level, priority enrollment in academic courses
• Tutoring services
• Review sessions
• MCAT exam scheduling and preparation
• Med. School application advising, workshops, and support
• One-on-one meetings with program staff and Director
