Medical Biochemical Genetics Fellowship
The U-M Medical School Department of Pediatrics Division of Pediatric Genetics, Metabolism, and Genomic Medicine offers a one-year, ACGME-accredited program in Medical Biochemical Genetics.
Fellowship training leading to ABMGG Board Certification in Medical Biochemical Genetics is currently offered.

Curriculum
The fellowship program offers a wide range of unique training experiences for fellows, including:
- The educational experience includes clinical care of patients with inborn errors of metabolism (IEMs), laboratory training in the MMGL Biochemical Genetics Laboratory, and didactic teaching in Biochemical Genetics.
- Fellows will rotate between inpatient and outpatient settings and will spend one month in the Biochemical Genetics laboratory, which includes an optional one-week rotation in the State of Michigan (Michigan Department of Health and Human Services) Newborn Screening Lab.
- Trainees gain experience managing patients with diverse IEMs including enzyme replacement, organ transplantation, and novel therapeutics.
- Fellows will be involved in newborn screening follow-up of patients with metabolic disorders.
Salary & Benefits
We offer highly competitive salaries and generous benefits to our residents, fellows, and advanced trainees. Trainee salary will be commensurate with that of a House Officer at an equivalent level of training based on the HOA contract.
