Our department provides a comprehensive and balanced experience in pediatric care, supported by world-renowned faculty, a broad patient population, and a collaborative environment dedicated to your growth.

We offer a foundation of excellent clinical training with many unique experiences for trainees. Trainees see patients with a wide range of ages, diagnoses and complexity in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. Research opportunities abound and range from basic science to health services research.

    Teaching Ultrasound at the Bedside

    For Emile Muallem, MD, a clinical assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at Michigan Medicine, the idea for a point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) curriculum began with a need he had been hearing during residency. Colleagues in pediatric hospital medicine talked about how valuable it would be to bring ultrasound into the division, and when Muallem joined the faculty, he realized he had the background and expertise to help make it happen.
