Our Selection Process
  • We have always used a comprehensive, holistic review process. Each applicant’s achievements are reviewed in his/her/their context to gain a better understanding of his/her/their aptitudes, interests, and career goals.
  • We do NOT use filters to screen in/out candidates based on USMLE/COMLEX scores, election to honor societies, etc.
  • We do NOT have minimum USMLE/COMLEX scores that we use during the review process.
  • Applicants who are offered an interview will be asked to complete a very brief supplemental form (2 questions) so that we can personalize your interview experience.

Please rest assured that students applying to the Med-Peds program at the University of Michigan Medical School are reviewed holistically and that we take the time to understand each individual student’s journey and context."

Our Interview Process
  • We anticipate extending interview invitations between October 14th and December 1st, using Interview Broker.
  • We never offer more interviews than we have spots available.
  • Applicants have 2 weeks to schedule an interview once extended an invitation. After two weeks have elapsed, their interview position may be given to another applicant (unless we have been contacted directly to discuss scheduling).
  • Students offered an interview have the option to be added to a wait list for a specific date based on his/her/their scheduling needs if the preferred interview date is full.
  • Applicants will have three 1:1 interviews during the interview day with the following faculty: the Program Director; an Assistant Program Director; and a Med-Peds faculty member. Further details regarding the interview day will be posted during the coming weeks.
  • If cancelling an interview that has already been scheduled, we ask applicants to do so with at least 2-weeks’ notice prior to the interview day. Although interviews will be virtual, we would like to provide all candidates with the ability to plan for their interview day with as much advance notice as possible.

In the event you are unable to use this platform, please contact us at [email protected] once you have received an invitation to interview and we will work out an individualized plan.
