Non-Evaluative Second Look at Michigan Medicine

Choosing your residency program is a complex decision

Join us on campus to discover why Michigan Medicine could offer your ideal residency experience!

At Michigan Medicine, our commitment to resident well-being extends to prospective residents as well. That’s why we continue to offer virtual interviews for most of our programs, providing benefits like cost savings, reduced carbon footprints, and the flexibility to balance personal and educational commitments. However, we also understand the significance of the residency decision for your career and personal life.

We welcome you to learn more about Second Look at Michigan Medicine.

Virtual interviewees can submit an application for up to $500 travel reimbursement. To be eligible for reimbursement, visitors must:

  • Have completed/will complete a virtual interview with an eligible residency program – list of eligible programs below.

  • Be traveling from greater than 50 miles away from Ann Arbor, MI.

  • Receive a second-look invitation from their program and attend the second-look event.

We are sharing this opportunity in advance of second-look invitations being sent because the time frame for those invited to make decisions about travel will be short. Depending on which residency program you are applying to, there may be limited capacity available for the second-look visit.

Completion of a travel reimbursement application does not guarantee an invitation to your program's second look or travel reimbursement to attend.

Availability of reimbursement stipends is limited, but we will let you know in advance of your travel whether or not your reimbursement request can be fulfilled.

This opportunity is being administered by the Dean’s Office and your application for or receipt of the travel reimbursement (provided based on receipts after you’ve completed the travel) will NOT be shared with the residency program or department.

Michigan Medicine offers reimbursements of up to $500 for travel and accommodation costs for eligible candidates travelling more than 50 miles from Ann Arbor, MI. A submitted application does not guarantee a second-look invitation or travel reimbursement. There are a limited number of spots for each program. Please note the deadline for your program below.

Our non-evaluative Second Look events provide an opportunity to experience life as a Michigan Medicine resident and connect personally with potential future peers and mentors. Each residency program’s second look event will have a customized itinerary – for more details contact the director/administrator for your program.
