We diagnose, treat, and help prevent the spread of illnesses caused by viruses, bacteria and other pathogens.

As one of the region’s largest and highest-acuity consultation services, the Division of Infectious Diseases at Michigan Medicine delivers world-class care across our entire health system and serves as a premier regional referral destination.

We operate six dedicated inpatient consultation teams, including general infectious diseases services that integrate academic training with advanced patient care and two specialized teams dedicated to transplant and immunocompromised patients. Together, these teams manage complex, refractory, and rare clinical presentations. We collaborate across all medical and surgical disciplines, working in close multidisciplinary partnership with cardiovascular medicine, transplant surgery, oncology, neurosurgery, and critical care teams to treat high-risk patient populations. In the outpatient setting, our specialized clinical programs provide advanced evaluation and long-term care, driving clinical excellence in infectious disease nationwide.
