Veterans Administration Hospital

Division of Veterans Administration

The U-M Medical School Department of Surgery Division of Veterans Administration is rare in that we focus exclusively on veterans’ care, building relationships and programs tailored to their needs.

Our surgeons provide bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, surgical oncology, and general surgical services.

Clinical Care

Our division is a national leader in clinical quality for veterans, drawing patients from around the region to the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. We focus on providing multidisciplinary care that provides well-rounded support for patients.

Surgeons in our division treat more than 3,000 patients a year across four surgical services, including bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, surgical oncology and general surgery treatment for gallbladder conditions and hernias.

Education

Surgery trainees who rotate on our services gain exposure to a unique environment where they can develop their skills as clinicians across a wide range of surgical services focused to the needs of veterans.

Research

Our division is heavily involved in a diverse portfolio of research that translates to better care for all veterans. Surgeons in the division are leaders in pancreatic cancer research, mechanisms contributing to metabolic disease, and health services research.
