Division of Endocrine Surgery
Established in 1979, the U-M Medical School Department of Surgery Division of Endocrine Surgery is one of the first of its kind in the country.
Our division is dedicated to the art and science of advancing endocrine surgery through innovative research to help treat a variety of conditions and move the field forward.
Clinical Care
Surgeons in our division are leaders in the field and have specialized experience treating a range of complex endocrine diseases. We have performed thousands of parathyroid and thyroid operations and have a track record of lower complications and optimal patient outcomes.
Our surgeons also offer treatment for adrenal disease, including: Cushing’s syndrome, adrenal nodules and adrenal tumors. We are also members of the Multidisciplinary Endocrine Tumor Program at Michigan Medicine.
Education
Surgery trainees who rotate on our service get a comprehensive education in all aspects of endocrine surgery and learn how to manage everything from routine cases to the most advanced types of endocrine disease.
We also offer a fellowship in Endocrine Surgery, a 1-year clinical and integrated research program at one of the country’s top academic medical centers.
Research
Through our research, our surgeons are advancing understanding of how cancers develop. We are actively involved in studies of thyroid cancer, hyperparathyroidism, adrenal cancer and drug development for cancer.
