Sexual & Reproductive Care Research
The U-M Medical School Department of Family Medicine researchers examine multiple aspects of sexual and reproductive health, whether that’s examining appropriate pre- and post-natal care for women (both those with disabilities and those without) and compassionate care for those parents who experience pregnancy or infant loss.
The team also examines issues related to adolescent sexual health, contraceptive decision making, and reproductive justice—such as the inequitable testing of newborns for illegal drug exposure, and the barriers vulnerable populations face in the birthing room.
Our epidemiologists also study the biological mechanisms of the reproductive system and how socioeconomic factors come into play in the healthy development of the fetus.
