Global Primary Care Research

The U-M Medical School Department of Family Medicine focuses its research efforts not only on conducting studies for the North American-based family medicine workforce and for patients in the U.S., but also on understanding the needs of family medicine care abroad and how gaps can be filled with doctors trained in the discipline.

Our research team is among the top Michigan Medicine departments to receive prestigious Fulbright Scholarships, and members have conducted and presented their research in countries as far away as Japan, Israel, the United Kingdom, Serbia, Guatemala, Australia, and Ghana.
