How to Apply
We will accept applications for the 2025-2026 academic year from July 15 through September 1. There are two positions available.
We are recruiting applicants from the specialties of Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Due to the nature of the current program and the various locations of the clinics, we do not offer rotations to individuals from outside of the Sports Medicine Fellowship program at this time.
Recruitment for all of our Family Medicine Fellowship programs will be done virtually this year. We anticipate all of our interviews and site tours will be conducted over a virtual meeting platform and applicants will not need to travel to Ann Arbor to apply. Thank you for your understanding.
Application Requirements
Applicants are required to be residency-trained at an ACGME accredited residency program in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, or Emergency Medicine and certified by their primary Board, or scheduled to take the board certification examination. They must have a significant commitment to a teaching and/or research career in Primary Care Sports Medicine. The fellows will be appointed at the appropriate postgraduate level consistent with previous experience and training, and receive a stipend and benefits consistent with the level of appointment. The University of Michigan strives to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion in the recruitment and selection of trainees.
The fellowship program participates with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), under the supervision of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM). The program subscribes to all application, interviewing and match list deadlines specified by the NRMP.
