Cancer Screening & Prevention Research
Our researchers from the U-M Medical School Department of Family Medicine are global experts on diverse topics in cancer, ranging from cancer screening to detect early changes in the cancer process to developing novel prevention and treatment modalities. These research efforts are focused on preventing invasive cancers and improving outcomes for cancer patients.
Specific areas of expertise include the creation and promotion of an HPV self-screening test, developing new dietary approaches for reducing the risk of developing cancer, testing new non-toxic preventive approaches in national trials, and managing fatigue and pain among cancer patients via alternative/naturopathic ways that complement traditional medicine.
Our researchers also work collaboratively within the research community beyond Michigan Medicine and the University of Michigan to establish national and global guidelines for approaching cancer care.
