Since 1978, the U-M Medical School Department of Family Medicine has been advancing the core principles of family medicine while working to transform primary care and meet the evolving needs of our patients and communities.

Our 100+ faculty lead six thriving health centers, train 39 residents, 12 fellows, and hundreds of medical students each year, and power one of the nation’s top-rated research programs. We are deeply committed to advancing health equity, removing barriers to care , and optimizing health for people and communities at every stage of life.
