How to Apply

Letters of invitation for interviews will be sent via e-mail once your application is received and reviewed. Interviews are held on Mondays and Fridays through mid-December.

Recruitment for our Family Medicine Residency Program will be conducted virtually this year. We anticipate that all of our interviews and site tours will be conducted over a virtual meeting platform and applicants will not need to travel to Ann Arbor to apply. Thank you for your understanding.

Note: Our match list will be finalized and sent to our DIO by the end of January. We will conduct optional second look visits both virtually and in-person in February after the program’s rank list has been locked. Second look attendance will not affect ranking and will only be meant to give applicants a chance to better understand our community. The program will not have knowledge of who has signed up for the optional second look prior to submission of the program’s rank list.

Medical School Electives

We offer a unique month-long elective experience for medical students from other schools to work with us and experience family medicine at the University of Michigan. Students work alongside our residents on our family medicine inpatient services.

These experiences give visiting students the broadest experience possible to learn our approach to delivering high-quality care to our patients and innovative education to our residents and students.

Applications for medical student visiting rotations are accepted through AAMC’s VSLO service.
