The Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery Fellowship (URPS) is administered by the Division of Neurourology & Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery, within the U-M Medical School Department of Urology.
- The URPS Fellowship accepts one trainee each year, into either a two- or three-year track
- Fellows benefit from extensive interactions between urology and urogynecology faculty
- Program fosters a close, collegial environment
- Collaboration with the Urogynecology program provides cross-disciplinary training
- The fellowship is fully accredited by the ACGME
Fellowship applications are accepted via the Electronic Residency Application Service.
Application requirements include:
- ERAS application
- Personal statement
- Letters of recommendation - a minimum of 3 (ERAS can hold up to 4)
- USMLE/COMLEX scores
- Medical School Transcript
- Photo
- Rotations are customized to match the fellow's background and interests
- Provides exceptional clinical experience in areas such as:
- Female incontinence and pelvic prolapse
- Mesh complications and fistulas
- Videourodynamic testing and neurourology
- Diversion and reconstructive surgery
- Neuromodulation and interstitial cystitis
- Male incontinence and male urethral surgery
- Three-year track includes formal training in clinical research techniques
- Offers a master's degree as part of the UroEpi Career Development Program (NIDDK K-12-funded training grant) or the UM KUHR Training Network

Current fellows in urology train across a wide range of urologic specialties, including endourology, urologic oncology, pediatric urology and more.
Fellows may schedule up to 20 weekdays (28 days total) of vacation time for each academic year (July 1 - June 30). Vacation schedules are coordinated between the fellows and the Program Director such that no more than one fellow is on vacation at one time. Whenever a fellow will be absent other than their assigned vacation weeks, they should notify the Program Director as far in advance as possible, but at least 6 weeks in advance for any non‐emergent absence. Clinic absence forms have been provided to each fellow and should be returned to the fellowship coordinator.
