- Perform competent preoperative evaluations.
- Manage postoperative care across various surgical disciplines.
- Master critical monitoring techniques for ill patients.
- Assist and perform specific surgical procedures and develop related skills.
- Evaluate surgical knowledge through in-service exams.
- Maintain a personal surgical case log.
- Collaborate effectively with support staff in all surgical settings.
- Demonstrate knowledge of urologic principles.
- Perform procedures like cystoscopy and ureteral catheter insertion under supervision.
- Conduct direct vision urethrotomies and balloon dilation of ureteral strictures.
- Execute diagnostic and therapeutic ureteroscopy, including laser lithotripsy.
- Perform transrectal ultrasonography and prostate biopsies with supervision.
- Manage pre- and postoperative care, focusing on oncologic surgeries.
- Care for VA Medical Center patients under supervision.
- Enhance skills in scrotal and minor urologic surgeries and assist in robotic surgeries.
- Maintain effective teamwork with support personnel.
- Develop an intern call schedule.
- Complete rotations as a junior resident in VA inpatient and outpatient services.
- Conduct surgeries and patient care in ambulatory settings.
- Master complex lower tract endoscopic procedures.
- Provide primary care in endourology, focusing on ureteroscopy and other procedures.
- Acquire basic laparoscopic and robotic skills.
- Offer care in pediatric urology, emphasizing procedures like orchiopexy.
- Present research at the Michigan Urologic Society Meeting.
- Perform various surgeries in ambulatory settings.
- Develop competency in urodynamic evaluations.
- Publish clinical research in peer-reviewed journals.
- Evaluate urologic knowledge through exams and present cases at Urology Grand Rounds.
- Work effectively with support staff, including administrative tasks.
- Complete a research project in urology, with guidance from a mentor.
- Submit abstracts to national meetings like AUA or AACR and publish manuscripts on clinical research.
- Present their research at the Michigan Urologic Meeting.
- Enhance knowledge through study of key texts and attend a microsurgery course.
- Contribute to Urology Grand Rounds and develop the resident call schedule.
- Act as primary resident for female and male urology services, focusing on specific conditions.
- Submit research abstracts and manuscripts for publication.
- Present cases at Urology Grand Rounds and Michigan Urologic Society.
- Supervise medical student education and inpatient care as chief of service.
- Attend national meetings to stay updated on urologic procedures and knowledge.
- Refine surgical skills in complex cases, particularly in oncology, and gain experience in private practice at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
