Endourology Fellowship
The U-M Medical School Department of Urology's Endourology Fellowship is a 2-year program designed to train individuals who aspire to be academic surgeon-scientists.

Program Overview
- Fellows spend one year on translational laboratory, clinical, or health services research
- An additional 12 months focused on clinical training in surgical and medical management of nephrolithiasis and advanced endourologic techniques
- Clinical faculty in Endourology offer a high volume of PCNL, ureteroscopy, SWL procedures, minimally invasive BPH treatments, and laparoscopic procedures for benign upper tract conditions

Clinical Training
- Resident and fellow training is carefully coordinated, with a focus on teaching
- Fellows learn to teach by guiding residents through cases under close supervision of the Endourology attending
- By the end of the clinical year, fellows master:
- Complicated ureteroscopic and percutaneous procedures
- Advanced minimally invasive surgical treatments for BPH
- Laparoscopic procedures for benign upper tract conditions

Research Training
- Trainees have a strong record of establishing successful academic urology careers
- Fellows choose between two one-year training paths:
- Translational laboratory research on lasers and endoscopic devices in the Endourology Translational Research Lab
- Clinical and health services research within the Michigan Urological Surgery Improvement Collaborative (MUSIC), which allows fellows to:
- Contribute to Michigan's mission to lead in urologic care
- Work with the world's largest clinical registry of ureteroscopy
- Learn about quality improvement and prospective clinical trials
- Fellows can also engage with the UM KUHR Training Network and UroEPI Career Development Program
