Neck Dissection Impairment Index Patient Reported Outcome Measure
The Neck Dissection Impairment Index (NDII) Patient Reported Outcome Measure (PROM) is a 10-item, self-report instrument that was developed and validated at the University of Michigan Medical School Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery with its first publication in 2002. It was created to evaluate long-term impairment and disease-specific quality of life (QOL) in patients who have undergone neck dissection.
NDII PROM Overview
The NDII identifies patient's age, weight, radiation treatment and neck dissection type as important factors that affect QOL following neck dissection and shows that the degree of impairment perceived by the patient correlates to leisure activity and employment status.
Since its development, the NDII has become an internationally recognized tool cited in over 160 publications and used as a QOL instrument in several clinical trials related to neck dissection. The NRG Oncology Group in the United States is using the NDII for a go/no-go decision from Phase II to Phase III n HN-006, Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy in Early-Stage Oral Cavity Disease.
The NDII is simple to use and has been translated into Danish, Spanish and Canadian French. It is under translation in Arabic, French, Hindi, Mandarin and Thai.
To submit a request to use the NDII please complete the form below. If we can comply with your request, we will forward the instrument that will be administered to the patient with the proper formatting. The patient facing version of the instrument is not published. The properly formatted version is the valid version for patient administration.
