The Kresge Hearing Research Institute, part of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, consists of a diverse and dedicated group of scientists and physicians working on basic science and clinical aspects of hearing and balance disorders, in health and disease.

Our mission is to:

  • Advance scientific knowledge of the development, function and pathology of hearing and balance
  • Translate today's scientific discoveries into tomorrow's clinical treatment
  • Train the next generation of scientists and clinician-scientists from the United States and worldwide
  • Promote diversity in academia and facilitate integration of persons with special needs into the research community
  • Educate the general public about hearing health and the benefits of biomedical research
