Welcome to Ethiopia

Overview

Most of Michigan Medicine's collaborations in Ethiopia are concentrated at St. Paul's Hospital Millennium Medical School, in Addis Ababa. Adjunct Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology Senait Fisseha was the catalyst for many of these partnerships, which began with Ob-Gyn but have since expanded to include other disciplines.

With the help of Michigan Medicine, St. Paul's has been able to launch post-doctoral training programs across 14 specialties. A kidney transplant program launched under the leadership of UMMS Professor of Surgery Jeffrey Punch is the first of its kind in Ethiopia. Meanwhile, the U-M Center for International Reproductive Health Training (CIRHT) has helped to expand the original obstetrics & gynecology training program launched at St. Paul's to other medical schools across Ethiopia.
