We run surgical simulations for obstetrics and gynecology to bring together learners at every level with a robust program that provides authentic experiences aimed at improving communication and skills to improve patient outcomes. This includes post-partum hemorrhage, C-section, sepsis, shoulder dystocia, and more. Our goal is to demonstrate correct technique and performance of key responsibilities and to practice teamwork and communication for simulated cases. In addition, we aim to explain the importance of civility and learn teaching techniques in high-stress clinical situations. Simulations involve faculty, residents, students, nurses, clerks, and fellows.

The Department of OBGYN Education Hub is currently building a surgical curriculum for all learners. This will be a central repository for surgical videos and relevant information, including preoperative, operative, and post-operative skills.

The Center for Education supports faculty, student, and inter-professional education research, grants, and teaching and technology product development. Two of our recent projects include ObGyn Delivered, a student-led medical education tool, and Second Look, an electronic fetal monitoring app.
