Distinguished Alumni Awards

A stunning, sleek lead crystal piece, dramatic in presence and elegant in design, the Michigan Medicine Alumni Society Distinguished Alumni Award is presented to those who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and service in their careers. Held every fall, the prestigious Michigan Medicine Alumni Society Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony honors Medical School alumni who embody the institution's commitment to excellence and drive to effect change throughout the world.

Awards bestowed include the following:

• Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award
  This Michigan Medicine Alumni Society award honors Michigan alumni* (M.D., Resident, Fellow, Ph.D.) or faculty member** who have typified the Michigan tradition of excellence and have brought credit to the University by their personal and professional accomplishments, and who have made distinguished achievements and contributions in their field, and in the science and art of medicine.
• Distinguished Alumni Service Award
  This Michigan Medicine Alumni Society award honors Michigan alumni* (M.D., Resident, Fellow, Ph.D. or faculty member** who exemplify the Michigan tradition of excellence and have brought credit to the University and their profession through their outstanding service to medicine, patient care, MMAS, or the health sciences.
• Distinguished Alumni Humanitarian Service Award
  This Michigan Medicine Alumni Society Award honors U-M Medical School alumni* (M.D., Resident, Fellow, Ph.D.) or faculty member** who exemplify the Michigan tradition of excellence and have brought credit to the University and their profession through their humanitarian service to the welfare of humankind.
• Early Distinguished Career Achievement Award
  This Michigan Medicine Alumni Society award honors Michigan alumni* (M.D., Resident, Fellow, Ph.D.) or faculty member** who exemplify the Michigan tradition of excellence through exemplary achievement in medical education, research, or patient care in the initial 20 years of his or her career.
• Distinguished Alumni Basic Science Research Award
  This Michigan Medicine Alumni Society award honors Michigan alumni* (M.D., Resident, Fellow, Ph.D.) or faculty member** who exemplify the Michigan tradition of excellence and have brought credit to the University by their personal accomplishment and professional achievement and recognized significant contributions in medical research and discovery. 

*Training experience(s) in eligible Michigan training programs must total 4 years or longer.
**Faculty membership at Michigan must be 5 years or longer.
