Excellence in Research

Advancing radiology through innovative imaging and multidisciplinary research.

Pioneering the Future of Radiology

The U-M Medical School Department of Radiology is renowned for its research excellence and includes a broad range of multidisciplinary research programs.

Our research teams are building the future of Radiology by improving medical imaging technologies, interventional procedures and therapies. Our faculty conduct a range of research, including bench science, translational research and clinical trials, focused on cellular and molecular imaging, preclinical imaging, magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine imaging and therapy, ultrasound, histotripsy applications and machine learning/artificial intelligence in medical imaging applications.

Our research leadership team and administrative teams provide support for research through proposal development, regulatory assistance, compliance, education, mentorship and dissemination of research discoveries.

The Department of Radiology also supports research across Michigan Medicine and beyond by providing medical imaging core services. This includes preclinical and clinical imaging resources.
