Breast Imaging

The U-M Medical School Department of Radiology Division of Breast Imaging (BI) represents a specialized group of clinical imaging services within the Department of Radiology.

Breast Imaging is part of the U-M Rogel Cancer Center, which is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), an alliance of the world's 24 leading cancer centers.

Mammography studies are performed at seven Michigan Medicine sites, including the Rogel Cancer Center, East Ann Arbor Health and Geriatrics Center, Brighton Health Center, West Ann Arbor Health Center, Briarwood Radiology, Canton Health Center, and Livonia Center for Specialty Care.

State-of-the-art digital mammography units including DBT are used, as well as ultrasound breast scanners. We utilize 3T magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) units. Image-guided procedures include stereotactic core needle biopsies, localization procedures, image-guided fine-needle aspirations, ultrasound-guided core biopsy and MRI guided breast biopsies.

The division consists of a recognized group of distinguished radiologists involved in clinical care and research. There is a long-standing history of close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team at the U-M Breast Care Center (BCC) staffed by breast surgeons, pathologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and plastic surgeons.

The Breast Imaging Division also trains and teaches medical students, residents and fellows.
