MIP’s postdoctoral training association (MIPPA), led by Dr. Mike Sutton, organizes valuable training programs covering manuscript writing, funding, lab management, job searching, and interview preparation.
MIPPA offers a monthly seminar with career advice from biomedical professionals and hosts an Annual Postdoc Symposium to highlight trainee work. It also provides postdocs the chance to direct and teach a course on molecular biology and physiological research. MIPPA collaborates with the Michigan Institute for Clinical and Health Research (MICHR), encouraging postdocs to join their grant-writing course.
Supported by the NIH, the Michigan IRACDA program trains postdoctoral fellows for research and teaching careers in academia. It enhances research through mentored experiences and promotes teaching skills among underrepresented minorities. It operates through the Biomedical Engineering and Molecular and Integrative Physiology departments.
