Emergency Medicine Medical Student Interest Groups

The U-M Medical School Emergency Medicine student interest groups are dedicated to fostering a deep interest in and understanding of emergency medicine. These groups offer medical students invaluable opportunities to gain hands-on experience, develop essential skills and build meaningful connections with peers, residents and faculty.

Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG)

The Emergency Medicine Interest Group is a medical student run organization dedicated to promoting awareness and interest in the field of emergency medicine. The group also strives to better prepare medical students for future training as emergency physicians. We provide interested students with clinical exposure to the emergency department, various workshops targeting basic procedural skills, faculty mentoring and advising for applying to residency.

EM Resident-Medical Student Mentorship Program

Our program facilitates the pairing of a medical student with an EM resident who kindly agrees to offer guidance, words of advice and answers to any questions regarding the specialty. The mentorship allows both parties to practice interpersonal skills, the medical student to obtain guiding insight and allows the resident to cultivate beneficial leadership skills and to gain perspective. Please contact [email protected] for further information.
