What We Do
The Office of Faculty Development was established in 2010 with a focus on supporting faculty members at every stage of their careers. With a team of dedicated staff members, the Office offers programming, resources, and consultation services for faculty spanning from new faculty orientation to leadership development. Our efforts help attract exceptional talent, fostering a supportive and desirable workplace at the U-M Medical School.
Aligned with institutional priorities and strategies such as enhanced well-being, leadership development and belonging, the Office collaborates closely with Medical School leadership and other Michigan Medicine Offices to ensure its offerings are relevant and timely. These include seminars, workshops, executive coaching, mentoring committees, networking opportunities, and avenues for feedback.

Our Impact
The Faculty Development team strives to provide faculty with resources that are effective in providing support and opportunities for expanding expertise.
Based on information collected for the Faculty Development Year in Review for fiscal year 2026, our program effectiveness rating is 4.4 with an overall program rating of 4.4.
Our programs had 2353 total participants with participation from all 29 departments at U-M Medical School.
These numbers are based on our current offerings of 65 unique programs and 105 total programs.
