Apply for Radiation Oncology Clinical Residency

Thank you for your interest in the University of Michigan Medical School Department of Radiation Oncology Residency Program. All applications are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Learn more below about the application timeline and how to apply.

Application Information

Your application should be accompanied by your:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Medical school transcripts
  • Three letters of reference
  • A personal statement

The Dean’s Letter from your medical school should be released and downloaded to ERAS on September 27. In addition, applicants must have completed USMLE Step 2 or at least be scheduled to take the test in early 2024.

All applications will be reviewed by a selection committee, which will be comprised of the Program Director, Associate Program Director, and several faculty members. Interviews will be by invitation sent via email. The day will consist of meetings with various faculty and residents along with faculty and resident presentations.

There will be three PGY-2 positions open for the 2025-26 academic year. The program start date is July 1, 2025.

Sept. 6, 2023 Applicants can start applying to residency programs in ERAS.
Sept. 27, 2023 Final deadline for receipt of all application materials to the University of Michigan Radiation Oncology Program.
Oct. 2, 2023 The UM RadOnc Residency Admissions committee will begin to review applications submitted through ERAS.
November 2023 - January 2024 Candidates are contacted and scheduled for interviews at the University of Michigan.
March 2024 NRMP Match

International Medical Graduates
  1. We do not require minimum USMLE scores.
  2. U.S. clinical experience is not a requirement, but is strongly encouraged.
  3. Our deadline for application consideration is September 30.
  4. ECFMG certification at time of application is required. Please review the ECFMG requirements.
  5. We sponsor only J-1 visas.
  6. We do not offer pre-match.
  7. We accept applications only through ERAS.
