Delivering No Less than the field's best option

The rich history of the U-M Medical School Department of Neurosurgery begins in 1918. Our humble start within the Department of Surgery has evolved into world-renowned patient care and ground-breaking research.

From the University of Michigan Health and its clinics, to the Crosby Neurosurgical Laboratories and Castro & Lowenstein Translational Neuro-Oncology Laboratories, our work happens across the Ann Arbor area.

Together, our faculty, residents, students, and researchers collaborate to pioneer breakthroughs and deliver the highest-quality neurosurgical care in the field. We teach the field’s future leaders on the same front lines of discovery and patient care, for an unparalleled experience in neurosurgical excellence.
