The Society for Advancement of Hispanics/Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) at UMich Chapter is a student run organization that fosters the advancement of underrepresented students in the sciences. The purpose of this chapter is to bring scientists of all levels together and mentor one another. In addition, we will have the support from faculty that promote diversity in the sciences and aid those of underrepresented communities.

SACNAS as a whole is a national organization with over 110 professional and student chapters working to increase diversity in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). All chapters meet annually at the SACNAS national conference in which students present their research and participate in leadership and professional development sessions. Involvement in SACNAS at Umich will provide members the opportunity to get involved in the community, network with other SACNAS members around the country, and increase diversity in STEM.
