Research Interests
Neurons in the brainstem receive information regarding the status of the environment within our body, and defend against threats to health such as bacterial infection, accidental toxin ingestion, or overconsumption of food. Our goal is to understand if separate networks of brainstem neurons mount responses (sickness behaviors, nausea, or satiety) to each of these distinct stimuli.
