Dr. Jonathan Gabison, an Assistant Professor in Family Medicine at the University of Michigan, stands at the forefront of chronic disease management with a focus on obesity and diabetes. Board-certified in Obesity Medicine, his expertise extends to the development of innovative programs and curricula aimed at improving the treatment and understanding of obesity and related metabolic diseases within primary care settings. Dr. Gabison's passion for education is evident in his role as a clinical content expert for the Michigan Collaborative for Type 2 Diabetes and his contributions to the Obesity Medicine Association's CIT Education committee. Through his work with the University of Michigan's Weight Navigation Program and the creation of a behavioral program, he actively engages in outcomes and quality improvement research. His dedication to teaching is underscored by his development of an Obesity Medicine curriculum for Family Medicine Residency, aiming to advance the practice and understanding of obesity medicine. As the Associate Program Director, he is currently developing the University of Michigan’s Obesity Medicine Fellowship, creating a comprehensive training program to prepare the next generation of obesity medicine specialists.
