About
Dr. Kris Chrouser is a graduate of Princeton University (BA) and attended Mayo Medical School (MD) followed by urological training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Subsequently she was a fellow in International Urology and Reconstruction with IVUmed. She received a masters in public health (MPH) from John’s Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She joined the University of Michigan in 2018 and her current clinical focus is on urological reconstruction in veterans.
Her research strives to understand how surgical ergonomics affects performance and how surgeon stress responses impact their team's intraoperative communication and dynamics. Her long-term goal is to design interventions to improve the quality of surgical care provided as well as prevent provider burnout/attrition from chronic stress. She is also working on several projects with the VA Patient Safety Enhancement Program (PSEP) to better understand how inpatient urinary retention is managed, with the long-term goal of reducing unnecessary catheterization and preventing urethral injury.
