    About

    Dr. Kate Hughey is a family physician and medical educator in the Department of Family Medicine at UM Medical School. Professionally fluent in Spanish, Dr. Hughey sees patients at Scarlett Middle School and at the University of Michigan Ypsilanti Health Center, where she focuses on culturally-aware and language-concordant care. In the medical school, she serves as the director of the Global Health and Disparities Path of Excellence, a co-curriculum focused on health equity in partnership with communities around the globe. Her scholarly interests include community-based participatory research in the Latinx community in Washtenaw County, MI. She serves on the Family Medicine Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

    Dr. Hughey completed her undergraduate education in religion and chemistry at Duke University (2007), medical school at the University of Chicago (2012), family medicine residency at the University of Michigan (2015), and community medicine fellowship at the University of Michigan (2016).
