Juana Nicoll grew up in Lima, Peru and graduated from medical school at Ricardo Palma University in Lima in 2005. She subsequently completed residency in family medicine in at the University of Iowa in 2013 and then completed a fellowship in geriatric medicine. She practiced at the University of Iowa before moving to Ann Arbor with her family in 2018. She is board certified in Family medicine and Geriatric medicine.
Dr. Capizzano completed an advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography Fellowship program at Michigan Medicine in June 2021 and then developed the Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) curriculum for family medicine residents as well as Faculty. Dr. Capizzano currently serves as the Director of family medicine's Clinical Ultrasound program, as well as the Director of the Advanced Primary Care Ultrasound Fellowship.
Dr. Capizzano has a clinical interest in geriatrics, POCUS , management of chronic diseases, procedures, and Hospital at home. Dr. Capizzano is honored to care for patients at Briarwood Family Medicine, the Chelsea Retirement Center, as well as inpatient at St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea.
Dr. Capizzano is involved on a Regional and National level with POCUS education and training, she works with the American Academic of Family Physician, Society of Teacher of Family Medicine, Society of Hospital Medicine as well as American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.
