    Research Overview

Human retinal degenerative diseases. Use of electrophysiological and psychophysical tests to
characterize the clinical physiology and phenotype of inherited and acquired retinal disorders; diagnosis and
follow up of course of progression, electrophysiological assessment of therapies, clinical trials.

Animal models of human retinal degenerative diseases. Functional assessment of retinal function using
electrophysiological techniques in mice, evaluation of experimental treatments for human degenerative
diseases. Assessment of retinal function and rescue in mice that have received treatment like gene therapy,
collaborative efforts in translational research. Development and refinement of techniques to relate function
    with pathology.
