    Dr. Bradley J. Uren is an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Uren’s career focus has been on the advancement of health care delivery and shaping impactful health policy. With extensive clinical and academic experience, Dr. Uren’s work focuses on bridging frontline medicine with policy reform to improve patient outcomes and system equity.
    A recognized leader in organized medicine, Dr. Uren holds the position of Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Michigan State Medical Society. He is a past president of the Michigan College of Emergency Physicians and the Washtenaw County Medical Society. Nationally, he has occupied leadership roles on various committees of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), contributing to the advancement of emergency medicine policy and practice. Throughout these roles, he has been a proponent of physician involvement in legislative advocacy, public health initiatives, and professional development.

    His expertise was acknowledged with a gubernatorial appointment in 2016. Dr. Uren was initially appointed to the Michigan Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee by Governor Rick Snyder and was subsequently appointed Chair of the Committee by Governor Gretchen Whitmer. In this capacity, he directs the state's efforts in evaluating and guiding formulary and coverage decisions, thus influencing pharmaceutical policy and access for residents of Michigan.

    Beyond his clinical and policy engagements, Dr. Uren is a regular contributor to public discourse on healthcare matters. He has authored opinion pieces in statewide publications and has been cited in numerous regional and national news reports addressing emergency-medicine topics, public health policy, and the challenges confronting the healthcare system. His perspective is considered authoritative and insightful on critical healthcare issues.

    Dr. Uren is particularly committed to physician advocacy education. He leads initiatives to train and mentor future healthcare advocates, including medical students, residents, and young physicians participating in advocacy electives and immersive policy experiences in Lansing and Washington, D.C.
    Through his activities in clinical practice, policy development, public communication, and professional leadership, Dr. Uren continues to significantly influence the progression of emergency medicine and the broader healthcare environment in Michigan and beyond.
