Ana T Montoya, MD, MPH

Dr. Montoya received her medical degree from Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, Peru. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and was a Chief Resident at Pinnacle Health System. Dr. Montoya completed a Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at the U-M Geriatrics Center. She received her Master in Public Health degree from the University of Michigan School of Public Health and her Master in Health and Healthcare Research from the University of Michigan Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. She obtained her medical director certification from the Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association (previously AMDA). Her research focuses on healthcare delivery for older adults, particularly those with dementia, and those who reside in long-term care settings. Her work has been supported by grants from the Center to Accelerate Population Research in Alzheimer’s (CAPRA) as a Pilot Awardee, The Patrick and Catherine Weldon Donaghue Medical Research Foundation, and The Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center (OAIC) as a Research Education Core Scholar. She also serves as a co-investigator on the State of Michigan Archive of Long-Term Care Services and Supports, aiding policy decisions for Michigan’s Department of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Montoya's research focuses on improving the care of older adults in nursing homes and other settings, with a particular interest in dementia and health disparities. She is interested in partnerships to enhance medical education and improve the care of older adults in diverse settings, especially in low-income communities.
