Dr. Hallstrom is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Michigan Hospital and Health Systems. He Co-Founded and is currently Director of the Michigan Arthroplasty Registry Collaborative Quality Initiative (MARCQI). MARCQI is a statewide collaborative with 92 participating sites and over 525,000 abstracted hip and knee arthroplasty cases. He recently completed a 5-year term as Associate Chief of Staff for Michigan Medicine. He is President Elect of the International Society of Arthroplasty Registries (ISAR) and prior to that was the chair of the ISAR PROMs Committee. He serves on the Americal Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR) Steering Committee and the AJRR-C External Advisory Board. His research interests include joint replacement (arthroplasty) of the hip and knee, treatment of arthritis and avascular necrosis, joint implant quality registries and medical quality improvement. Dr. Hallstrom is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is an active member in multiple societies including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
