I have been on faculty at the University of Michigan for over 30 years and I am an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Learning Health Sciences at the University of Michigan Medical School. In addition to my clinical work as an Ob/Gyn generalist, I am actively involved in medical education innovation, health professions education research, and the development of faculty as educators. I am the Founding Director of the Health Infrastructures and Learning Systems (HILS) Online Master of Science Degree, the first of its kind in the Medical and Rackham Graduate Schools at the University of Michigan. I have two successful massive open educational courses on the Coursera and FutureLearn platforms that have engaged over 23,000 learners to date. I also lead the Medical Education Scholars Program which is a program initiated in 1988 that develops faculty as educational scholars. Past educational leadership positions include Chair, Central Group on Educational Affairs, AAMC and Chair of the Faculty Development Committee within the Michigan Center for Interprofessional Education.
