    About

I'm a Professor of Medicine, in the division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at the University of Michigan. My clinical practice is focused specifically on lung cancer early detection (screening), diagnosis (bronchoscopy), and prevention (tobacco cessation). I help patients determine their lung cancer risk, and have extensive experience in assessment of people with lung nodules and known or suspected lung cancer. I work intimately with the multidisciplinary lung cancer clinic team including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, thoracic surgeons, radiologists, and nuclear medicine specialists. I am an avid college and professional sports fan, with my roots in Chicago. I enjoy cycling, fitness, reading, and I am an advocate for public health policies that reduce the risk of lung cancer. Lucky husband, and proud father of two. Undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois in Biomedical Engineering (1986), and M.D. from the University of Illinois College of medicine in Chicago (1990).
