    Research Overview

    - My laboratory focuses on understanding and treating retinal vascular diseases, including diabetic retinopathy and radiation retinopathy—two of the most common causes of vision loss. My research integrates high-throughput quantitative proteomics, multimodal retinal imaging, and preclinical animal models to build a translational pipeline from molecular discovery to therapeutic validation. Ultimately, my goal is to complete the preclinical evidence base necessary to launch early-phase clinical trials to treat patients with these blinding conditions.
    - We also investigate the economics of retinal care to improve value, access, and sustainability. Using time-driven activity-based costing and large-scale claims analysis, my research examines the true cost of vitreoretinal procedures, geographic and community-level disparities in care delivery, and the impact of economics on practice pattern changes. Ultimately, my goal is to generate evidence that informs reimbursement policy, reduces unnecessary variation, and ensures that high-quality retinal care remains accessible and financially viable for all patients.
