Target Audience:
The target audience includes physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, house officers, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
Activity Description:
The Reed M. Nesbit Urologic Society, founded in 1972, holds an annual meeting for urologists who trained or were affiliated with the University of Michigan Department of Urology. It is open to residents, fellows, faculty, and interested community urologists. This year’s program focuses on a wide range of urology topics. Dr. Mani Menon, Professor of Urology at Icahn Mount Sinai and Chief of Strategy and Innovation at Mount Sinai Health System will serve as this year's Visiting Professor.
Course Objectives: At the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Explain and apply the latest guidelines and recommendations for the diagnosis, treatment, and management of urological conditions to optimize patient care.
2. Demonstrate improved teamwork and communication skills within the healthcare team to facilitate more effective collaboration.
3. Integrate rapid technological advancements into clinical practice to improve diagnostic and treatment outcomes.
4. Interpret and incorporate new research findings into clinical practice to ensure evidence-based patient care.

Dr. Mani Menon is an internationally recognized pioneer of robotic surgery in urology, best known for performing the first robotic radical prostatectomy in the United States and refining it—through four randomized trials—into what is now the global standard of care for localized prostate cancer.
Trained at JIPMER in Pondicherry, India, he completed his urology residency under Dr. Patrick Walsh at the Brady Urological Institute, Johns Hopkins. He became Chairman of Urology at Henry Ford Hospital in 1997, where he founded the world's first cancer-focused robotics program and the Vattikuti Urology Institute. There he developed landmark techniques including the "veil" nerve-sparing prostatectomy, robotic kidney transplantation with regional hypothermia, and the precision (Menon) prostatectomy. He later held senior roles at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. Now retired from clinical practice, he runs the Menon Academic Partnership, facilitating academic exchange across the US and internationally.
He has published over 1,000 papers, chapters, and abstracts, trained more than 80 robotic surgeons, and helped establish 35+ robotic programs worldwide. His honors include the AUA Gold Cystoscope and Hugh Hampton Young Awards, the Keyes Medal, India's Dr. B.C. Roy National Award, and induction into the Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars.
