Researchers in developmental genetics seek to understand how genes dictate the development of cells, tissues, and organisms.
At the forefront of developmental genetics research, our faculty probe the causes of infertility, seek to understand the mechanisms leading to birth defects and neuro-developmental disorders, and study intricate developmental processes such as X-chromosome inactivation and genome regulation. Some faculty study human development through the lens of genetic disease, while others use model systems such as cells, zebrafish, and mouse.
