Mitra graduated from WashU in St. Louis in 2016 with a BA in Biology and minors in Anthropology and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She spent a year at NIH-NIAID as a Post-Baccalaureate IRTA fellow before matriculating at the UM MSTP in 2017. In 2024, she completed her PhD in Immunology in the Kahlenberg lab studying mechanisms of UV-induced skin injury in lupus. Besides her longtime love of immunology, Mitra loves distance running, reading, and all things teaching and mentorship!
